The Fellow-E/ Scientist-D (Head Stem Cell Facility) is a position at the Institute for Stem Cell Science & Regenerative Medicine (DBT-inStem) in Bangalore, India. The candidate will be responsible for leading the stem cell facility and conducting collaborative inter-disciplinary research in the field of stem cell biology, regeneration, and repair. The institute is autonomous and is under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. The successful candidate will be part of a campus that shares research facilities with the Bangalore Life Sciences Cluster.

Level in Pay Matrix (as per 7th CPC) , Post Code :& No. of Post : The Head of the Stem Cell Facility at the Institute for Stem Cell Science & Regenerative Medicine in Bangalore is a Level-12 position in the Pay Matrix (as per 7th CPC) with post code 03/2023 and 1 (One) vacancy for the UR category.

Position Details: The responsibilities of this position include managing and coordinating the operations of the stem cell facility, training users in cell culture and stem cell-related experiments, coordinating activities and maintenance of the stem cell labs, and distributing cell lines and reagents. The Head is also responsible for organizing training workshops, updating standard operating procedures, ensuring adherence to policies and regulations, and ensuring the facility meets statutory requirements for work with human stem cells.

Compensation/ Pay Details : The compensation for the Head of the Stem Cell Facility position includes Pay Level 12 in the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (Entry Level) and benefits such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance, Children Education Allowance, Leave Travel Concession, and Medical Facilities, as per the rules of the Government of India. The candidate will also be enrolled in the National Pension System (NPS).

Essential Qualification & Experience: The essential qualifications for this position include a Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Medicine or equivalent, with 5 years of experience. A PhD in Life Sciences or other Allied Sciences is desirable. The ideal candidate should be an outstanding scientist with a strong research record and a passion for collaborative/thematic research. They should have experience in the relevant field and the ability to foster interactions between basic sciences and clinicians.

Experience for Deputation : For candidates applying through deputation, the eligibility criteria include being a scientist from Central/State Governments, Research Institutes, Autonomous Bodies, etc. The candidate must either hold an analogous post on a regular basis in the parent department or have 4 years of service in Level-11 or equivalent in the parent cadre/department and possess the essential qualifications and experience as mentioned above.

Age Limits :The age limit for the Head of Stem Cell Facility position is 45 years for direct recruitment and 50 years for deputation.

Nationality : Indian nationals, NRI, PIO, and OCI are eligible to apply.

Employment/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies etc : For candidates already employed in the government, public sector undertakings, state government, autonomous organizations, etc., a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the present employer is required at the time of the interview. Failure to produce the NOC will result in the candidate not being allowed to appear for the interview.

Exemption from payment of application fee : Women and Divyangjan (PwD) category of any community are exempt from the application fee. A supporting certificate should be uploaded for PwD candidates.

Payment of application fee : The application fee is non-refundable and all applicable service charges, bank charges, etc. must be borne by the applicants. The application will not be processed without the deposit of the application fee.
